Post-election processing space
The 2024 election season has been particularly difficult. The threat and reality of authoritarianism manifesting itself in the form of the Gaza genocide, political repression, police violence, legislative backlashes that criminalize our communities, and the number of Supreme Court decisions overturning long-established precedents and protections.
This session will be an open space for movement organizations allied with Borealis Philanthropy, Building Beyond Policing, and the Community Resource Center to come together to process the results of the November 2024 elections.

Prentis Hemphill, therapist, somatic teacher, author and founder of Embodiment Institute will open the space with a somatic focusing exercise and Paula X Rojas, midwife, organizer, author and Embody Transformation trainer will propose a possible reframing of our current moment and facilitate a conversation about the importance of centering deep care to support our collective work in the long term. Two opening activities will be followed by interactive conversations in small groups for collective reflection.
This is the first in a two-part series dedicated to processing the election results. Part two will take place on November 20 and will focus on what's next and what support people will need going into 2025.
